Traveling to Victoria - by plane

A float plane trip across the Salish Sea

Yes, there is actually a float plane service* from downtown Vancouver by Harbour Air., but most visitors arrive by plane to the Victoria International Airport (YYJ). YYJ Victoria Airport has daily service to Vancouver, Seattle (US), Toronto, Ottawa, Edmonton and Calgary. (link).

From the Airport you can either take a taxi cab or Uber (30 min, C$ 60-70) to your accommodation downtown or to the UVic Campus. There is also a city bus (50 min, C$ 6.00) For the latest schedule information, please refer to the BC Transit web site or  BC Transit Trip Planner (Applicable Route Numbers: 70, 72, 87 and 88).

* So, you are intrigued by the float plane? This may be worth considering, if you plan to stay in downtown Vancouver and travel to or from downtown Victoria. The most relevant route is likely from Vancouver’s Coal Harbour, to the Victoria Inner Harbour. The fare fluctuates wildly and ranges from $50 to $300 for a single trip (30 min flight) depending on the season and on special offers. Note that there are luggage restrictions and traveling with a full-sized suitcase may not be possible on all flights.
