Travelling to Victoria - by ferry from Vancouver

Travelling by ferry to Victoria with one of the large and comfortable ferries from Vancouver’s Tsawassen Ferry Terminal to Swartz Bay near Victoria is common especially for those who bring their own car. The second half of the 90 min sailing is quite scenic, when the ferry travels through the gulf islands. Reservations are not required for foot passengers but are recommended, if you bring your car. The fare is currently $20/person and around $100 for a car and driver for a single trip. (Link to BC Ferries website)

Travel from the Vancouver Airport (YVR) to the Tsawassen Ferry Terminal takes 45 min by car (about $70 for taxi cab or Uber fare). Apparently there is also a shuttle bus (approx $35) that I have never taken (BC Ferries connector). If you are adventurous (and cheap) I recommend taking the Canada Line (=”SkyTrain”) from YVR to the Bridgeport Station and then switch into the #620 express bus. This will take you to the Tsawassen terminal in about 1 hr and for <$10. Travelling from Swartz Bay to your accommodation in Victoria requires another $70 cab/Uber ride or patience with Victoria’s city bus (#70, 70x or 72) which takes about 80 min and costs $5.
